Our concept of the universal attachable range extender is suited to all kind of electric vehicles. This concept solves two major weaknesses of today’s electric vehicles in a simple and elegant manner. The first weakness is the small operational range and the subsequent need for connecting them to modern infrastructure for their charge. This problem appears especially on long journeys in remote areas, where access to necessary infrastructure is limited. The second weakness is dependence on modern charging infrastructure which would not be accessible in the event of infrastructure breakdowns caused by natural disasters like floods, fires, earthquakes or societal breakdowns ets.

Description of the construction
This concept is an assembly inside the rear trailer box which contains our patented engine-generator. In this box there are all the other accessories like the fuel tank, engine accessories, electrical equipment necessary for charging the EV. This creates a compact unit which does not need any additional external equipment for its operation. A big advantage of this universal and portable solution is that it can be installed on one car and switched to another with ease.
Operation modes
This range extender unit can operated in two different modes. The first one is a range extender mode. That means it is attached to a car by a common trailer hitch and connected to the car electrical system by a connector like a general trailer connector which provides power delivery. In this mode the unit acts as a general range extender and charges the vehicle while it is in operation or use. In the second mode the unit acts as an independent charger station which can be stand alone or be attached to a car by a common charging connector and therefore can be easily transported from place to place and charge empty EV batteries.
